All Cleaned Up

These past few weeks have been busy, mainly doing some indoor painting (because the weather has been nice and cool FOR ONCE!)  and I had to get the entryway finally finished since it’s remodel which was in the spring (Oooops! laziness can sometimes get the best of me, but the summer heat wave did not help either   :O   ).  I also wanted to spruce up my kitchen, was not happy with it’s former color of blue, I need a little more uplifting color in my life to make things a bit more bright and happy! Happy! Happy!   So I went with a yellow, how uplifting is that, everytime I go in my kitchen now I can’t be more “Happier”.  Maybe the cooking will be even better now, hahaha!

About a month ago I blogged about a major tree pruning and chopping that went on here and today was the day for “TREE PICK-UP”.  This past weekend we dragged all those cut down branches to the curb!  It was a lot of work, basically too0k us the entire day but am I happy to get rid of those things off my yard, was becoming an eyesore.  I felt like I was living in the land of the dead forest.  It amazed me that it took us about three days to get the trees pruned and cleared and these guys…

All done in less than 15 minutes!   (the guys were not too bad to look at either).  The pile was approx. 60 feet long and about 3m high.   What was I doing wrong??!!  LOL!

Anyways,  glad it is all gone and finished with.

I think I will be done for this season for doing some landscaping changes.  I may have a few things to get done before winter time arrives.  But next spring I will be finishing up the front area and laying down my new plans for the front and side walkways (gardens) and finishing the front area, where the “greshem” and “Snowmound” were removed and replanted in their new homes (and seem to be doing quite nicely, except for a few of them that do not look so good, sniff sniff).  There is just not enough time to get everything done, when you are doing everything else, right?

So today is another beautiful day, perfect temperature for heading out once again to get those chairs  (chair) finished.  I hate sanding, I absolutely HATE it!  But unfortunately it is part of the process of making my vintage chairs “Gorgeous” once again.  I want to get at least two completed by end of weekend.  Some of the paint on them was so thick, ugh!  it takes forever to sand them off, I am using a paint remover also, otherwise I may be doing this until next year!  I am also looking around for some really nice fabrics to cover my chairs, not sure what I am decided on yet?  But it will come to me.

So here are a few shots of my decorating attempts for the entryway, still have the door frames and baseboards to get on (lord knows when that will get done??!)  and I am still on the hunt for 2 wall coat racks, just not finding what I want, so until something I see says “Buy me, you know you want me” I ain’t opening my wallet.   I may even take a try at making one, I mean really?  How hard can it be to make one?  I say until you try it, you will never know…

A few shots of the Before and After looks, awwww what color can do

Week of Tole Painting

Once again it’s been a very busy week of painting, painting and more painting.  What can I say I love to paint!  I have been working on many items for my store “Peonie’s Closet” at Etsy.  I have completed some but still have yet to finish up others.  What I did get done is an address plaque, one of my favorite things, my “Cookie Box” in my cottage collection color and a cute easel and frame for displaying your child’s wonderful artwork.   I will have many more things to add to my shop shortly.

I am still in the process of working on my vintage dining chairs, they are coming along but it is a long process and I need to prep them properly before I apply the NEW color to them.  I am getting excited to see the final product.

Amidst all of my painting projects, I am doing some small renovations indoors.  I am redoing my entryway and have been busy at Benjamin Moore deciding on what paint colours I want to use to transform that space.  It is not a huge space, but I know what I want it to look like and I think since the weather is cooperating once again I will start the priming and painting process this weekend.   The only thing I dread is sanding that gyprock, UGH!  and it is sooooo messy.  Cough, Cough!  Guess I will have to pick up a mask as well.   Then I will be moving onto the kitchen and hallway and living area, needs a new paint job and it will be nice to change things up a little.

I have been on this decorating site called “Houzz”.   I absolutely love it, you can make your own idea books.  It’s a great place to get wonderful ideas.  I have been checking out the landscaping photos as well, wowwww, so many ideas, I could spend hours scrolling through the pages.  Great ideas for spaces small or large.  When I am ready to completely renovate the kitchen I know where to look for interesting looks.

Makes a great Wedding Favor filled with your own homemade cookies!

I love the new “Bob Mackie Banana Girl doll”. I think she is soooo much fun, I think the striping in the dress makes it sooo much brighter. Can’t wait to get her!

Helen's Doll Saga

Not many dolls were presented by Mattel at the 2012 Barbie Convention, here are what  I saw in Sales room:

Bob Mackie’s Banana girl  (KT reported these 2 pictures were stolen by an eBay seller for his auctions!! what a shame! should you buy from someone who is so dishonest? )

her price will be $125 or around. I am so over with Showgirls, and very tired of Bob Mackie’s “crossover” straped  gown (can you call it a gown?): gold barbie, timeless cher, golden legacy, radiant redhead, etc etc…  so no more this type of costumes.

Perhaps I would have loved it if this  Banana girl were made:

okay, next up, Mr. Bill Greening’s Ghost, dont you agree her costumes are  very standard. her eye makeup is not very “ghosty”, I am guessing black hair, black lip color may be more sellable.

if the ghost is for Halloween, “holiday hostess” is for Christmas &…

Doll Starz

Wow!  More dolls have been added to the BC shop.  I am amazed at how fancy some of these dolls are.  Their sparkly and glittery dresses, the sky-high pumps, Barbie certainly is living the life of a Rock star.

Just in a few days ago are the  “Blonds Blond Diamond Barbie doll”  and the “Stephen Burrows Pazette Barbie doll”.  All dolls are pre-orders.   I will more than likely purchase the dolls, but I have to say the dolls are getting pricier and pricier every day.  The Blonds Blond Barbie is selling at $125.00 USD and the SB Pazette Barbie is going for $100.00 USD, both in the BC shop.  I have to wait until December to receive the Blonds Blond doll, and I am very anxious to see her, Phillipe and David Blond are world renowned designers, and of course I am not surprised to see Barbie doll adorned in the skimpiest of mini dresses encrusted with all the sparkly diamonds and a gorgeous full length fur (faux of course!) with a hot pink lining , they are known for that, amazing corsets as well.  They project a very glamorous rock star look.   Stephen Burrows was  the first african american designer to achieve international acclaim.  The Pazette Barbie seems to be wearing a mesh catsuit or body suit encrusted yet again with sparkly diamonds and silver pailettes.  Her see through vest also has a trim of glitter and fluffly boa trim, hmmm I am anxious to get her as well, I am sure the gems are all glued, for $100.00USD I would like to see a bit of sewn on crystals, but I will still get her!  LOL!   I find the Pazette doll reminds me very much of the “Cher, Bob Mackie turn back time 80’s doll”,  just saying.

Driving me carazzzzzy

This weather is driving me carazzzy!  I have come to the conclusion that I must wake up at 4:30am to get some outside chores done.  The weather is just too unbearable after 11:00am, and when is it going to rain???   The poor rivers….  they are so sunken and low, the water looks muddy and mucky, poor little frogs and duckies and whatever else is living in there.  Although I do love a sunny day I have just about had it with this humidity and sun, sun, sun.  I WANT IT TO RAIN!!!

Now I know how roasted chickens feel :O

Getting up early has it’s benefits,  no one else is awake, it’s quiet, you hear everything so clearly, the birds, the crickets, the ants (okay not the ants)…  it is actually so peaceful, I enjoyed watering my garden (ever so slightly with this drought, but I transplanted bushes so I just had to, Oooops) in the quiet of the early morning, it was kinda dark, I noticed it’s darker now, hmmm fall is coming (yeayyyy).  I love the fall, cooler weather, pumpkins and Halloween…

I worked on a few chairs this morning, sanding away like a nutball, even in this heat, happy I did it.  The mornings are kind of cool, nice and breezy.  I will soon have them painted or stained, maybe add a cool looking cushion and they will be available for purchase in my Esty shop “Peonie’s Closet”.  This week has been a painting week, started a cool mailbox and address sign.  Hope to have it done by the end of the weekend.  I have also gotten a cookie box completed, and started many other projects.  It was a good productive week.  Awww yes the benefits of getting up early and catching the worm,  however this is sure to be me at 2:00pm  hehehehe
