Yup! Guess I am on a Tye Dye craze. Just wanted to share a post from Village Sweets. A Tye Dye CAKE was created for awesome Caroline!
Made a card box this weekend for an engagement party. The theme was Hawaiian, so I went with a Tiki looking box. I purchased a sturdy box from the dollar store with a removable lid. Cutting the “slot” was a little difficult, but I managed. I wrapped the box and the lid in burlap and secured it with glue. I also glued two pretty shells to the lid. I purchased two lei’s and cut the string. With the loose petals I attached several together to make a more full flower and sewed a few stitches, this made it so much quicker to just have one big flower to glue to the box lid. I then glued one jeweled stone to the center of the flower. I also purchased some bamboo sticks, they were great and so easy to cut. Glue the bamboo pieces to the box and Voilà! My Tiki Themed Card Box at a small cost of $12.06 and took about 2 hours to make… Woohoo!
Friday Afternoon Kocktail time! Made up a slushy Strawberry-Banana Morgan cocktail, was really really good!
– 3 oz Captain Morgan’s Spiced Rum
– 3 oz Banana Liqueuer
– a whole container of Fresh Strawberries (reserve a few whole ones with their green tops for deco), washed and cut up (put them in the freezer for an hour or two)
– Lots of Ice (2-3 cups)
In a blender, add the very cold strawberries and blend until pureed (if you want, I pressed them through a sieve, cuz I don’t appreciate the seeds stuck in my teeth!). Return the strawberries to the blender if you pressed them and throw in the Spiced Rum, Banana Liqueur and the ice (I like lots of ice, I used more than a cup, probably 2.5 cups). Blend and blend away. Once it is thoroughly blended pour into some pretty glasses and decorate with your whole strawberries….P-R-E-T-T-Y!! and yummers to boot!
Have been in a sewing mood lately…. Today I made a pretty fashionable collar using fine Bridal Satins and Laces. I think it’s pretty anyway, lol. Available in my Etsy shop. They called for rain today, which is why I sat myself down at my machine early. It is looking sunny/cloudy with no sight of rain…yet. I often wonder if those weathermen/women know what they are talking about? I havesent a link for some weather entertainment below. Hmmm what do I make next, my sewing machine is calling!
A little weather humor from Canada for your entertainment, please watch this video “Rick Mercer Report” 🙂
